Finding a Therapist Who Respects Your Christian Faith
Have you prayed, read Scripture, and sought wise counsel, yet still felt stuck in anxiety, discouragement, or relational pain? Have you hesitated to pursue counseling because you were unsure whether therapy would truly honor your beliefs?
You do not have to choose between spiritual conviction and professional support. At Embers, we believe those two work together.
What Is Christian Counseling and How Does It Work?
Christian counseling is not a substitute for pastoral care. It is therapy informed by faith and grounded in clinical practice.
At Embers, Matt integrates approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and relational models for couples and families with a Christian worldview in a way that feels natural, respectful, and clinically sound. Faith is never forced into the process. It is invited in as it matters to you.
Research supports this approach. A 2018 meta-analysis published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology examined 97 outcome studies and found that therapy adapted to a client's spiritual beliefs produced measurably greater psychological improvement than non-adapted treatment. For clients whose faith is central to their identity, bringing that into the counseling room can lead to deeper, more lasting change.
