Here’s a little bit about us.

Many people live their lives in darkness. With the unexpected twists and turns we all often experience, it can feel overwhelming to navigate without being able to see where you are going. Our goal at Embers Counseling is to join with you and face the unknowns that come your way by helping create light in the darkest places of your life. We are confident that the brighter your path ahead becomes, the less difficult your challenges will be.

We are Matt and Annie, the founders of Embers Counseling—a name inspired by our daughter, Ember, and the powerful meaning her name holds. For almost a decade, we spent time dreaming up a space to connect with families in our city and support them in improving their relationships and personal health. We are excited to call Embers Counseling that place, and our prayer is that here you will experience the comfort of home and the relief of healing. Whether you feel helpless in the midst of a crisis, are a parent struggling to understand your son or daughter, don’t feel as close to your spouse as you once did, or are simply looking to learn more about yourself, we are committed to partnering with you to bring compassion and clarity to your circumstances and help find a positive way forward.

Our Story

Our Mission

At Embers Counseling, we empathize with your unique story so that you can embrace all parts of yourself and others, then empower you to make lasting changes to the patterns that are keeping you stuck.

A Systems Approach

Our approach is mindful of not only you, but the network or system that surrounds you. We believe that people do not exist in a vacuum, and therefore counseling should consider all aspects of an individual person’s life. At Embers, we will encourage you to tap into positive, life-giving relationships you already have to help you in your counseling journey.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little more “perfect peace” in your life?

Our Christian faith informs our understanding of relationships and internal healing. This is the reason we strive for a compassionate approach to counseling—although the world is full of brokenness, we hope to bring a fragment of Shalom to people’s lives when it feels disorganized, chaotic, and dark. Shalom means perfect peace as God intended, and wouldn’t it be nice to have a little more “perfect peace” in your life?
